Numusic's 15th anniversary
Scandinavia’s leading electronic music festivals turns 15 years. This will be celebrated with special attention to the history of the Norwegian electronic music scene that has taken the world by storm, from the founding artists to the most current acts.
Since it’s not so humble start, Numusic has presented a wide range of artists, from contemporary music masters Stockhausen and Steve Reich to Detroit techno pioneers Carl Craig and Jeff Mills, while at the same time hosting exciting new artists who have gone on to international fame.
This year’s program will summarize the history of Norwegian club music with an aspiration towards progressive music, as the inspiration behind the name of the festival when it was founded in 2000.
Discoking Todd Terje will togheter with Juan Maclean of DFA Records open this years festival for an special event on Thursday at Folken.
Norwegian ambient music pioneers Biosphere & Deathprod play together, while international space disco superstars Lindstrøm and Prins Thomas will fill up the dance floor. Exciting new artists like Drippin, Slick Shoota, Andre Bratten, Proviant Audio and Telephones & Chmmr represents the new wine.
Local heroes Tôg caters to the home crowd, together with Oslo band Hubbabubbaklubb and exciting new artist Vilde Tuv from Bergen and up and coming local talent Ary Wire.
But this isn’t a local meet and greet, West Coast electro rap pioneer Egyptian Lover from LA pays a rare visit to Norway together with the English duo Stubborn Heart, the Icelandic talent Tonik and the two skilled DJs and producers Maxxi Soundsystem and Cliff Lothar.
Numusic has become renowned for placing big name club acts in rooms the music was originally designed for. With a nightly capacity of just over 1000, Numusic provides a rare opportunity to get “up close and personal” with some of the scenes biggest and hottest names.
This year's festival will mainly take place at Tou Scene, Stavanger's old proud brewery; a unique building with over a century of history which now serves as one of the most progressive and dynamic cultural venues on the west coast of Norway.
