Jane Chapman is the harpsichordist for the 21st century. Equally passionate about contemporary and baroque music, she has revitalized new repertoire for the instrument, inspiring the latest generation of composers. She has premiered over 50 solo works and numerous electroacoustic and chamber pieces by leading composers, and is at the forefront of developing collaborations with composers and video artists. Having studied at Dartington College of Arts and the Royal College of Music, she gained a British Council scholarship to
study at the Amsterdam Conservatory with Ton Koopman. She also received an Allmusic Award for her ability to perform in different musical styles. Volume 1 of her disc of eighteenth-century music, The Lady’s Banquet (Collins Classics), was chosen by BBC Music Magazine in its top fifty recordings for that year.‘Her progressive spirit and comprehensive technique have inspired composers to forge new parameters and sound worlds for the harpsichord with works of unprecedented musical and technological scope’ – Harpsichord & Fortepiano

Ny Musikk’s Composers Group present Jane Chapman, harpsichordist, in a workshop project where eight of the composers of the group, have written new works for her. The composer group consists of:

    The website program need an update. There are two more performers at this concert, Sindre Sortland on acoustic guitar and Ole André Farstad on el- guitar.

    Sindre Sortland is a guitari player and has studied at the Grieg Academy in Bergen and the Universidade Federal da Bahia and, Escola de Música in Salvador in Brazil. He has played at festivals in several countries, including UNM-festival in Helsinki and Festival de Violão in Caxias do Sul (Brazil). He has a degree in guitar at the Grieg Academy in Bergen.

    Short biography:
    Ole Andre Farstad Is a musician living between the City of Bergen in Norway and Sevilla España. He’s primerally a guitarist playing a wide range of styles. He also plays many different kind of string instruments and also has a small recording studio in Bergen where he produces his own music.
    He started his musical career on the small island of Harøy in the 80´s playing rock in local bands. He also studied classical guitar, and at 16 he left the island to see the big world and continue to develop his musical skills. He studied music at the Music Conservatory in Kristiansand for 5 years and also started a Masters degree in Etnomusicology at the University of Bergen
    His interests for folkmusic around the world has brought him to study Indian Classical music In Varanasi, India. Different folk music styles from South Amerika in Chile and his most profound studying of Flamenco music in Spain, in which he focused his master thesis.
