Low Frequency in Stereo (NO)
Friday Sep. 17 – Folken at 21:30
The Low Frequency in Stereo started with their lo-fi-post rock in the beginning of 2001. The band has since then played over 200 concerts around the world with hilghlights like the Quart Festival, the Dour Festival, CMJ – New York and the South by Southwest Festival which can be regarded as the band’s break-through with the music branch.
The Critics have always been superb, Senior Editor of Rolling Stone David Fricke described their concert in Austin, Texas as “a mixture of the long solo elements in The Doors set to the raptide of Joy Division’s “Transmission” with the surf guitar twang of Dick Dale, and 2009 looks like that is going to be a big year for The Low Frequency in Stereo.
The band just released their fourth album, Futuro, on the Norwegian jazz/indie label Rune Grammofon. The album has received a standing ovation from critics throughout Norway and Europe, and the single “Texas Fox” was even elected Song of the Day on NY radio station KEXP.
The band have previously been defined as a post-rock act, but after almost ten years they’ve developed into something much more. By touring Norway and Europe for years their musical expression have grown into something that is hard to define and would challenge even the most experienced fan. Some would call it recycled rock, others just call it that Low Frequency sound!
