LOCAL TALENTS

August 25, 2009

Festival of (west-coast) Numusic…

This year’s line-up of local artists has never been as big and varied as it is for this, our tenth anniversary. Local talents from a wide selection of genres and musical expressions will be presented during this year’s amazing 5-day program. Acts playing everything from dark heavy rock to Manchurian postrock and experimental noise-artists famous in underground scenes throughout Europe.

THURSDAY

NOXAGT: Although heavy they have a deftness of touch most bands playing this style of music lack. There is subtleness at work during their long song workouts and an almost jazz perspective to some of their low-end rumblings which means they are never less than exciting to hear. TOU 1 – 0200

BRAVING THE GLACIER: Baffled by senses, impressions, tensions and mental impulses – Braving the Glacier feel close to their realm of compositions and improvisations. TOU 2 – 2330

BJERGA/IVERSEN: Local experimentalists Bjerga/Iversen have been wiretapping the secret frequencies of ghostly drones since late 2004. Bjerga/Iversen have been touring the UK, the Netherlands, Belgium, France and Germany. TOU 2 – 2330

PÅL ASLE PETTERSEN /ANDERS GJERDE: Mainstays of the Stavanger underground scene, Gjerde and Pettersen have covered a lot of ground with their warped take on electronic music – from electrically charged minimalism and gentle field recordings to volatile noise. TOU 2 – 2230

FRIDAY

THE LOW FREQUENCY IN STEREO: The band have previously been defined as a post-rock act, but after almost ten years they’ve developed into something much more. By touring Norway and Europe for years their musical expression have grown into something that is hard to define and would challenge even the most experienced fan. TOU 1 – 2100

KING KNUT: King Knut is a self-taught producer/musician/DJ. Born by the sea and raised deep in a fjord in western Norway, Knut has been involved with everything from country to soul and garage rock. TOU 2 – 2230

THE SHOCK!: Local Stavanger-act The Shcok! managed to win the local Zoom finals, play at Bylarm (Norway’s SXSW) and be voted the weeks undreground hit at NRK P3 before anyone had the chance to know of their existence. TOU 2 – 2130
