Proviant Audio (NO)

Image of artist

Proviant Audio is drummer/multi-instrumentalist, producer and DJ Mathias Stubø. He is known as a whiz-kid in Norway, producing electronic music influenced by jazz and soul, and hailed by the media as one of the best disco producers in this country - in conjunction with artists such as Todd Terje, Lindstrøm and Prins Thomas.

Stubø gained notoriety having won an “Artist of the Week” award on Norway’s national radio network, NRK P3 at the incredible age of 14! In 2010 the same station had him nominated for ‘Artist of the Year’.
Mathias Stubø is a hyper-productive and talented guy. He first emerged a few years ago with the genre-busting «Real Love Tastes Like This! » album. It cracked the Norwegian charts and found fans with the likes of Ross Allen, Wolf + Lamb, The Revenge, and Ashley Beedle. Taking a whole range of musical influences, it mashed them together in to a coherent montage of hip hop, house, soul and future disco grooves that signalled the arrival of a major new talent with a totally fresh sound.

Last fall he released his new album of forward thinking modern glitter ball grooves called «Drift Days & Disco Nights» on the newly launched Paper Recordings sub-label Paper Disco along with Oslo Records. This is unorthodox club music, made by a virtuoso guy who is not afraid to think differently. An album that captures the 2103 disco zeitgeist and sounding like the album Daft Punk could have made if they hadn’t moved to LA and dug up the spirit of Fleetwood Mac. It features Mathias trademark choppy production, made from live recordings but flipped round and re-sampled giving it a classic sound but with a modern sensibility and holy cow, can he write a hook!

On stage Proviant Audio has built a solid reputation for his live performances backed by a full band. Mostly people who met studying music. We promise a disco party!
